BISMARCK, ND – Nationally renowned comedian and actor Tatanka Means is set to perform at this year’s Tribal Leaders Summit, hosted by United Tribes Technical College and the Great Plains Tribal Leaders Health Board, on September 4-5, 2024, in Bismarck, ND. Each year, United Tribes and the Health Board collaborate to develop a conference focused on public health, bringing together tribal leaders, health professionals, and community members to address critical issues facing Indigenous communities.
United Tribes Technical College, located in Bismarck, ND, is a premier institution dedicated to providing quality higher education and technical training to Native American students. The Great Plains Tribal Leaders Health Board, meanwhile, serves as a vital advocate for the health and wellness of the tribal nations in the Great Plains area, offering support and resources to improve public health outcomes.
In addition to the special performance by Tatanka Means, the summit will feature keynote speaker Hoollie J. Mackey. Mackey is a dedicated educator, activist, and organizer known for her tireless efforts in promoting Indigenous rights and education. With a background in community development and advocacy, she has successfully led numerous initiatives aimed at empowering tribal communities and advancing social justice.
The Tribal Leaders Summit is a significant event that fosters collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the development of strategies to enhance the health and well-being of tribal nations.
