Tribal Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program (GP-TMIECHV)
This program’s purpose is to support and guide parents and caregivers through home visits that encourage healthy pregnancies, healthy children, and strong caregiving practices while honoring Lakota values. The program promotes positive caregiving, prenatal education, and learning that strengthens cultural understanding.
The program provides home-based support, instruction, and caregiving guidance to help Relatives receive the knowledge and skills needed for a healthy start.
Program Goals
- Strengthen caregiving skills
- Provide instruction on prenatal and birthing-parent health
- Offer learning experiences grounded in Lakota culture
Care Coordinator Role
- Recruit and enroll eligible Relatives
- Provide home visits using culturally guided, evidence-based lessons
- Assist Relatives in setting goals
- Conduct screenings for caregivers and children
- Offer referrals for local resources

Criteria For Program
Tribal Citizen expectant parents (at least 28 weeks), caregivers, and children under age 5 residing within the Rapid City/Rapid Valley area, Antelope, and Rosebud.
