Healthy Start Program
The Healthy Start Program supports the well-being of Tribal Citizen Relatives across the Great Plains. Based in Rapid City, SD, the program assists Relatives during pregnancy and through the first 18 months of a child’s life.
The program provides care coordination, health instruction, and parenting support guided by Tribal traditions and local values. The program welcomes expectant parents, caregivers who are active in the child’s life, and children from birth to 18 months, offering guidance and resources that help Relatives grow and stay strong together.

- Virtual care coordination
- Prenatal health instruction
- Virtual parenting classes (Family Spirit, Positive Indian Parenting)
- Child passenger safety instruction and car seat distribution
- Safe sleep instruction
Criteria For Program:
The program supports Tribal Citizen Relatives living in the service area, including expectant parents, caregivers actively involved in a child’s life, and children from birth to 18 months.
