The Great Plains Injury Prevention Program works to strengthen child passenger safety and reduce injuries among Relatives ages 0–8 across 18 Tribal Citizen areas in the Great Plains. The program offers hands-on instruction on proper use of car seats and booster seats, car seat checks, training for child passenger safety technicians, and distribution of car seats to Relatives who need them.

- Local review of current child passenger safety resources and needs
- Training and certification for child passenger safety technicians
- Instruction on safe car seat use
- Quarterly safety checks in Rapid City, SD
- Car seat distribution to Relatives who need them
- Collaboration with 17 Tribal Citizen areas and one service unit to strengthen injury-prevention efforts
Criteria For Program:
- Tribal Citizen Relatives with children ages 0–8 living in the 18 Great Plains Tribal Citizen areas.
